[Ivan strongly considers filtering this from Gregor, but he thinks the man can have input into his own party. If his input is the 'don't throw me a party' kind then Ivan can always ignore it. He's aware that his mother would be appalled at him for starting his planning so late, but Ivan's reasonably certain that he can still gather in one place all the essential ingredients: food, attractive women, alcohol, and Gregor. Still, he suspects that Gregor might want something more and what that something would be Ivan does not know.
So he turns to his journal, bringer of wisdom -- or at least other people's perspectives.]
What makes a party fun for you?
Me, I'm easy to please, I think. But some people are really sold on having tiny iced cakes that look like Earth, as an example.
[And for some people things that look like Earth are out of the question. Gregor might be more interested in that sort of difference than Ivan is. Actually...]
And if there's anything you do where you're from that you don't see done here, you might share that as well.

[He laughs dryly, supposing the invitation would be withdrawn if the fellow had a glimpse of his face. It didn't matter anyway.]
...What was it you said? [A shift in the subject.] That you are easily pleased?
[voice]
I am.
[If Ivan sounds a little proud of himself it's because he considers it a good thing.]
But I'm not throwing a party for myself.
[voice] That's a charming smile. :P
One needs not a party to find easy pleasures... and to enjoy oneself.
[Behold, a purely teasing invitation of his own
and no one was surprised. He would love to see the effect his words produce, if any, but exchanges merely involving voices take from the satisfaction.]Won't you show your face? I should like to see the man whom who so kindly extended this invitation so that I may thank him properly. It can be most impersonal speaking through a book, you understand.
[voice] Ivan's very expressive
[The guy's definitely talking about hooking up with girls, right? Because that's certainly a thing Ivan counts as a pleasure.
Anyway, Ivan offers a slight smile at the camera that transmits a static image of him periodically to the book.]
Of course I'll be at the party, and I suspect that I'll be visible then, if you insist on the personal.
[voice]
How nice.
[It is highly likely Isaac will be a no-show, but he maintains his pleasant air nonetheless.]
[voice]
I look forward to seeing you there.
[If he doesn't show Ivan won't really care -- he might not even notice if enough other people do show.]
[voice]
...Of course.
[And so this exchange of pleasantries seems to be drawing to a close. For now, at least.]
